Dr Maxim Seredkin

Technical Director & In-Situ Recovery Coordinator
CSA Global

Dr Maxim Seredkin is a Technical Director and In-Situ Recovery Coordinator in CSA Global and possesses more 20 years’ experience in the mining industry. He has spent 15 of those years specialising in ISR and the extraction of uranium, gold, copper, tungsten, nickel, cobalt, rare earth and other metals. Maxim has worked on laterite projects since 2001 and has prepared numerous Mineral Resource estimation reports for laterite nickel-cobalt deposits in Australia, Guinea, Indonesia and Turkey. Since 2018, Maxim has been heavily involved in the development of ISR technology for nickel-cobalt laterite projects. Maxim is a regular contributor to conferences world-wide and publishes academic papers on In-Situ Recovery.

In-Situ Recovery – Emerging “Green” Technology for the Extraction of Nickel and Cobalt from Laterite Deposits

In-situ recovery is a very prospective method for the extraction of nickel and cobalt from laterite deposits. Kaznickel is the first company to construct a pilot plant to demonstrate the viability of ISR for nickel. The nickel grade in pregnant solutions reached 350 mg/l, and nickel mixed hydroxide precipitate was produced. ISR technology for the extraction of nickel and cobalt is environmentally friendly without open pits, waste and helps reduce tailing dams. The most beneficial use of ISR is zero emission of greenhouses gases due to the production of electrical power and steam on its sulphurous acid plant.
